Hello World
Introducing UMBC’s Travel Advisory Board
Partnering with campus to shape a smoother, smarter travel e
To help guide the successful rollout of SAP Concur Travel at UMBC, we’ve launched the Travel Advisory Board (TAB)—a group of faculty and staff from across campus who bring valuable insight and feedback to the table. TAB was created to ensure the new travel system meets the needs of our community, improves current processes, and supports a smooth transition.
TAB members serve as liaisons to their departments, review key implementation documents, and help shape how Concur will be introduced and used across campus. Their input is essential to aligning the system with the way we work at UMBC.
We’re grateful to the inaugural members of TAB for their time, expertise, and ongoing collaboration:
Bryan Casey, AVP and Controller, Financial Services (Chair)
David Di Maria, Assistant Vice Provost for International Education
Adam Drutz-Hannahs, Assistant Manager, Financial Services
Catherine Manalansan, Administrative Assistant, JCET
Charles Nicholas, Professor, CSEE
Ken Schreihofer, Director, Business Systems, DoIT
Desiree Stonesifer, Business Manager, Administrative SSC
Margo Young, Director, Earth & Space Research Administration (ESRA)
TAB has already begun shaping key decisions that will directly impact the travel experience at UMBC. As implementation continues, the board will play a vital role in keeping the community informed, gathering feedback, and helping address questions or challenges along the way.
Have questions or want to stay in the loop? Feel free to reach out to any of the board members above—they’re here to help make Concur a success for all of us.

April Concur Update
Smarter Travel Starts Now: SAP Concur is Coming to UMBC!
It’s April, and while the flowers are starting to bloom, we’re underway on the implementation of SAP Concur! Our new travel system is packed with powerful features that will save time, reduce frustration, and improve efficiency. Here’s what’s coming and why you’ll love it:
Snap & Submit – No more saving paper receipts or manually typing in details. Just take a photo of your receipt using the SAP Concur mobile app, and the system will automatically extract the data—so you can submit expenses in seconds!
Smart Travel Booking – Book flights, hotels, and rental cars all in one place, with recommendations that follow UMBC Travel policy. SAP Concur finds the best options at preferred rates, so you get a seamless, policy-compliant travel experience.
Built-in Compliance – Travel expenses are automatically checked against the UMBC Travel policy, flagging any out-of-policy expenses before submission. This means fewer corrections, faster approvals, and a smoother reimbursement process.
Mobile Convenience – Need to submit while on the go? No problem! The SAP Concur mobile app lets you manage your travel from anywhere—whether you’re in the office or halfway across the world.
What does this mean for you? Less time on administrative tasks, more time for what truly matters. We’re making travel and expenses simpler, smarter, and more efficient than ever before!Posted: April 15, 2025, 8:19 AM

As we implement Concur, we want to provide the best local hotel options to help streamline the booking process for travel preparers and secure better pricing at the hotels our campus community already loves. Your input will help us identify the top choices for UMBC visitors!
